Propulsion Technician (Tornado) Location: Dhahran, Saudi Arabia Contract Type: 6-month rolling contract Start Date: ASAP (deployment may take up to 5 months) Hours: Full-time (Sunday–Thursday, 48 hours per week) Rate & Benefits £315 per day Overtime may be available at standard day rate Rate includes shared accommodation Includes flights to/from the UK (job/visa related travel) Overview An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Propulsion Technician to support maintenance operations on the Tornado fast jet platform in a high-profile overseas military aviation environment based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the maintenance, inspection, fault diagnosis, repair, and servicing of aircraft propulsion systems, ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with approved technical data, airworthiness requirements, and organisational procedures. This is a demanding, safety-critical role operating within a structured military aviation environment, offering the opportunity to work on a high-performance fast jet platform overseas. Key Responsibilities Carry out maintenance, servicing, and repair activities on Tornado propulsion systems Perform engine removal, installation, and functional testing Conduct fault diagnosis and rectification in accordance with approved technical documentation Carry out inspection of engines, components, and associated systems Support and/or conduct ground runs and post-maintenance checks Ensure all work complies with airworthiness and regulatory requirements Accurately complete all maintenance documentation and certification records Maintain compliance with health, safety, and aviation safety standards Work effectively as part of a multi-skilled engineering team Ensure all tools, equipment, and work areas are maintained to required standards Essential Skills & Experience Experience working on fast jet propulsion systems (Tornado experience highly desirable) Strong understanding of aircraft engine systems and maintenance practices Experience in fault finding, diagnostics, and corrective maintenance Ability to interpret and apply technical manuals and engineering documentation Knowledge of military aviation maintenance standards and airworthiness requirements Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety and quality compliance Good communication skills and ability to work within a team environment Qualifications Completion of a recognised aircraft engineering apprenticeship (Mechanical or Aeronautical preferred) Military or civilian aviation equivalent qualifications accepted Relevant propulsion or fast jet type training (Tornado experience advantageous) Demonstrated experience in aircraft propulsion maintenance within an operational environment Working Environment Overseas deployment based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia Military aviation maintenance environment supporting fast jet operations Sunday–Thursday working pattern (48 hours per week) Safety-critical, regulated engineering environment Structured team environment with operational support focus This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Propulsion Technician to join a high-tempo fast jet programme overseas, contributing directly to aircraft availability, safety, and operational performance.
