About the role
Volantes Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Avionic Wireman/Fitter on behalf of a well-established aviation organisation operating from Oxford Airport, delivering specialist aircraft modification, engineering and support services across commercial, defence and private sectors. The Role The Avionic Wireman / Fitter manufactures and installs electrical looms and avionic systems into aircraft under modification, working closely with the Part-21 design team on bespoke projects. Duties include: • Manufacture of electrical looms and avionic systems to design data • Installation of bespoke role equipment and customised optionals into aircraft • Off-aircraft bench work and workshop tasks • Remove and refit aircraft panels, cowlings, and associated equipment • Repairs to aircraft wiring looms and avionic systems • Close liaison with the Part-21 design office throughout modifications • Day-to-day hangar support including aircraft handling Candidate Profile Essential: • Minimum Level 2 qualification in electrical engineering or similar • Experience in aviation, automotive, marine, defence electronics, or similar transport sector • Portfolio of relevant work — client will request this • Clean UK driving licence • Understanding of soldering, crimping, and wiring diagrams • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and test equipment (e.g. AVO) • Ability to work in confined spaces • Eligibility for DBS and SC security clearance • UK right to work — no visa sponsorship available Desirable: • Previous aviation environment experience • Loom building or aircraft installation background • Fault finding / troubleshooting on avionic systems • SAP or Envision system familiarity Benefits Bupa private medical — single cover, company paid 6% employer contribution / employee 4% Share schemes, salary sacrifice (bike, tech, car, dental) Contact us to learn more and apply!
