Aircraft Mechanic
Aircraft Mechanic Luton Permanent We are currently recruiting for a Mechanic / A Licensed Mechanic to join our established, reputable team at our Luton base, on a permanent, full time basis. THE ROLE The Mechanic will be actively involved in line and base maintenance activities, as required in accordance with company procedures and under Part 145, and as delegated by the Licensed Engineers and Engineering Managers. As part of a wider team, the Mechanic will is responsible for conducting and maintaining high standards of aircraft maintenance and to undertake such maintenance in a safe and timely manner as appropriate to the role, and in accordance with approved data, MOE/work instructions and regulations. Working within a small team, the mechanic will at times be required to manage as necessary the company mobile phones throughout the shift and be able to provide feedback to customers. The post is hand’s on and will require that the incumbent actively takes part in the aircraft maintenance. It would be beneficial if the successful person has good experience involving both line and scheduled maintenance. Due to the nature of Corporate / Private Aviation, the mechanic will ensure that any enquiries from customers / crew are dealt with professionally and either deal with the request directly and /or liaise with the relevant internal departments to ensure that these are managed through to completion, providing regular feedback and acting when necessary as first point of contact. The mechanic will actively be involved in both line and base maintenance and will have a pro-active and flexible approach and will at times be expected to work away from base. HOURS OF WORK The Luton base operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year – as a result, the successful applicant must be flexible and professional. You will be required to work as part of a team covering a 24-hour operation, which will include working days, lates, weekends and bank holidays. This will normally be a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, however flexibility will be required due to the possibility of occasional lone working or workload, in which case actual shift times may be varied. Initial training will require a period working Monday to Friday. THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE Preference will be given to those applicants who already have experience of working within a Corporate / Private aviation environment, or those with experience working on any of the following; Good computer skills (Microsoft packages, general working knowledge of systems) are a requirement. Sheet metal experience would also be beneficial but is not essential as this is primarily a mechanical role. Applicants should have an organised, adaptable and flexible approach with strong interpersonal skills and a diplomatic approach. You will be enthusiastic, willing to learn and maintain a professional appearance and manner even in sometimes difficult circumstances. The ability to prioritise in an ever changing environment, remain calm and adapt under pressure are essential for the role. Excellent communication skills combined with courtesy and integrity are also important. Good administration skills and computer literacy are essential. The role may be required to provide support at both locations therefore a full UK driving license is essential, as is holding the right to live and work in the UK. You will also need to have a 5 year checkable history in order to obtain an airport ID pass. The role oversees line maintenance operations across key European stations including Paris, Nice, Geneva, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland , ensuring consistent standards and performance across all locations. Key Responsibilities Lead day-to-day operations of European Line Stations and CAMO activities, ensuring safe, compliant, and on-time delivery of MRO services Drive operational excellence by implementing company processes, standards, and best practices across all sites Manage full P&L responsibility, including budget planning, cost control, and profitability optimisation Monitor performance through KPIs, taking corrective action to meet financial and operational targets Act as the primary point of contact for key customers, ensuring high levels of service and rapid resolution of escalated issues Build, lead, and develop high-performing, multi-site teams including technicians, planners, and support staff Oversee recruitment, training, succession planning, and performance management to strengthen organisational capability Ensure compliance with all regulatory and airworthiness requirements (EASA, FAA) and internal quality standards Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all locations Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean practices, to enhance efficiency, reduce turnaround times, and improve customer satisfaction Coordinate cross-functional collaboration between maintenance, engineering, and support teams to ensure seamless operations Provide strategic direction for network growth, capability development, and service delivery enhancement across Europe Candidate Requirements Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, Engineering, or a related field (MBA preferred) Minimum 10 years’ experience in aerospace aftermarket or MRO operations At least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing multi-site operations Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including EASA, FAA, and airworthiness requirements Proven experience managing budgets, P&L, and driving financial performance Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and motivate large, cross-functional teams Strong operational background with a focus on efficiency, quality, and on-time performance Experience implementing continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean) Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in complex, multi-site environments Strong customer focus with experience managing key client relationships Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Fluent in English and French Why Work with JMC Aviation?
