Training Lead
STS Engine Services is hiring a Training Lead in Stansted, Essex, United Kingdom. This role sits at the centre of apprentice development and technical training within a growing Part 145 aircraft engine MRO environment. Position Overview Reporting to the HR Manager, the Training Lead is responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining training programmes for apprentices and operational teams. This role ensures all training aligns with regulatory requirements while supporting the long-term development of aircraft engineers and technicians. You will play a direct role in shaping future talent, maintaining compliance standards, and strengthening technical capability across the organisation. Key Responsibilities Training Delivery: Develop and deliver structured training programmes for apprentices and the wider business, combining theoretical and practical instruction Deliver on-the-job training aligned with individual learning needs and operational requirements Design, deliver, and maintain company training programmes including Continuation Training, Human Factors, Form 1 Training, and bespoke modules Conduct regular one-to-one meetings with apprentices to support development and track progress Curriculum Development: Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop and refine training curriculum in line with regulatory standards and business objectives Create and maintain training materials including manuals, guides, and digital resources Apprentice Assessment and Appraisals: Monitor and assess apprentice performance through testing, observation, and practical evaluation Provide structured feedback and support to ensure competency development Conduct formal annual appraisals and development reviews Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all training meets Part 145 regulatory requirements and internal standards Maintain accurate training records and documentation for audit purposes Support internal and external audits related to training and compliance Mentoring and Support: Act as a mentor and role model for apprentices, providing guidance and performance support Address performance issues and support improvement plans where required HR Reporting and Communication: Provide regular progress reports to the HR Manager outlining apprentice development and performance Work closely with HR and operational leaders to ensure alignment across teams Continuous Improvement: Stay current with aviation training practices, technologies, and regulatory updates Identify opportunities to improve training delivery and effectiveness Support the development and improvement of apprentice recruitment processes Ideal Candidate Profile Strong communication skills with the ability to lead, mentor, and motivate Relevant technical qualifications in aircraft maintenance or a related field Experience working within a Part 145 MRO or similar aviation environment Strong organisational and record-keeping capability Proficient in Microsoft Office tools Committed to developing apprentices and supporting long-term career growth Professional, structured, and focused on high standards Ability to design and deliver effective training programmes About STS Engine Services STS Engine Services is a leading Part 145 aircraft engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul provider based in Stansted, Essex. Deputy Check Manager
Location: Manchester Airport, United Kingdom Employment Type: Full-Time Industry: Aviation Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) STS Aviation Services is rapidly growing, and we are looking for new team members to be part of our journey as the leading UK MRO. This is an exciting time to join the STS Aviation Services business and be part of our growing base maintenance operations in Manchester. As the Deputy Check Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management and delivery of allocated maintenance inputs, retaining oversight of all maintenance tasks to ensure regulatory compliance. Applicants MUST either be citizens of the United Kingdom or hold valid UK work authorisation with at least two years remaining until expiration. Key Responsibilities: Deliver allocated maintenance inputs to schedule Deliver allocated projects and company initiatives to schedule Assist Base Maintenance Management team as required Line manage all staff within agreed area of responsibility Issue certificates of release to service for the specific aircraft type within QA044 Staff Authorisation Document scope Allocate tasks and responsibilities within work area Maintain a log of progress against task Provide and deliver daily production briefings Update senior management as required Develop solutions to deliver maintenance to target within budget constraints Ensure daily progress reports are issued for aircraft under maintenance Ensure technical integrity of all work carried out under control Ensure conduct and timekeeping of all allocated staff meets expectations Maintain allocated work area to high cleanliness standards Ensure all husbandry and tool audits are completed and recorded Conduct formal appraisals of hangar floor staff and advise Head of Base Maintenance on training opportunities Ensure continued health and safety compliance within the team Carry out DQS self-audits per base maintenance procedures and allocate to staff as needed Assist with quality audits and implement robust closure plans Assist the Head of Base Maintenance in managing budgets as required Basic Requirements: Must hold Category B license with 777 type ratings and C certification Previous Base Maintenance Management experience as B1 and/or B2 certifying engineer required Must be willing and able to work Day or Evening shifts Must have legal right to work in the UK Strong working knowledge of Part 145 Aviation Legislation Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment Excellent communication, management, and interpersonal skills About STS Aviation Services STS Aviation Services operates globally as one of the aviation industry’s leading MRO providers.
